It's Heart Health Month, and we partnered with the American Heart Association and Sacramento's Go Red for Women for the 2013 Children's Heart Art Challenge art contest, sponsored locally by Nugget Markets and designed to share heart-health awareness in a fun, creative way. This year, local 4th and 5th grade classes at schools near each Nugget Market location were invited to take the challenge, and here are our winners in each category! Congratulations to our winners and all the kids and teachers who have a Heart for Art!
• Theme: What activities keep your heart healthy and strong? Winner: Maya Nambisan, Grade 4, Jackson Elementary School, El Dorado Hills, CA
• Theme: What can you eat to keep your heart healthy and happy? Winner: Liorah Dushkin, Grade 5, Orchard Elementary School, Vacaville, CA
• Theme: What does a healthy heart look like to you? Winner: Julia Erlewine, Grade 5, Martin Luther King Jr. School, Sacramento CA
