Many Americans are familiar with the Chia Pet, but few know that chia is a nutritional gem. This year, we're proud to announce our support of local school gardens and garden-based learning programs by providing a matching $250 grant to five qualifying Davis schools. The Nugget Markets School Garden Grants are awarded to the grant applicants that demonstrated new, innovative and creative educational experiences through the garden program, provided a wide range of hands-on muti-grade learning activities involving many subjects and classes, and presented a unique and clear vision for the garden’s future and plans for sustainability.
