Nugget Markets is honored to be a long-time supporter and friend of the Center for Land-Based Learning (CLBL). One way we’ve supported this amazing organization is by making a significant contribution to their Growing Our Future Campaign to help build their new headquarters in Woodland.

Recently, we also renewed our West Sacramento Urban Farm sponsorship that supports the Lake Washington site, located in our West Sacramento store’s backyard! This program converted five vacant lots in the region into thriving urban farm business incubators, and provides support to small-scale farmers just getting started. Not only does this foster the next generation urban farmers, it also provides a source of fresh, locally grown food to urban communities!
The Lake Washington farm site we sponsor is just over 3.3 acres and is home to three urban farm incubators: Bella Vida Farm, Wildgust Farm and California Stars Farm. Bella Vida Farm was founded by Sacramento resident, Cindy Cause, in 2018 and features diversified and sustainable agriculture that takes care of the land while growing unique, heirloom vegetables. Led by Rashael Parker, Wildgust Farm focuses on food as medicine and grows a variety of organic medicinal herbs and specialty produce. Farming for more than six years, Ben Herston runs California Stars Farm and sells delicious produce like winter squash and yams to our stores in West Sacramento, Davis and Vacaville!
Thank you, Center for Land-Based Learning, for growing future generations of urban farmers and bringing us all a closer connection with our food!
