Dying eggs for Easter Sunday or just for fun? Grab some fresh herbs to make fun patterns and shapes! Here is how our team created these herb-patterned eggs:
- Make hard-boiled eggs: In a large pot, cover one layer of eggs with 1 inch of water. Bring to a rolling boil for 2 minutes. Turn off heat and cover. Let sit for 10 minutes and then cool in an ice bath. If any crack, it’s okay, you can have a little snack!
- Assemble your other supplies: mason jars, spoons, rubber bands, cheesecloth cut into 6-inch squares, herbs and egg dye or food coloring.
- Place chosen herbs on each egg and swaddle tightly in cheesecloth, securing it snuggly with a rubber band.
- Gently submerge eggs in your chosen dye for 10 minutes.
- Remove eggs from dye and allow to dry for 30 minutes before removing the cheesecloth and rubber band with scissors.
Have fun and happy Easter!
