Love local? Eat local! We’re proud to partner with the Center for Land-Based Learning (CLBL) to offer fresh, hyperlocal produce grown by new farmers in their California Farm Academy at our West Sacramento store. This is just one of their many programs that helps cultivate opportunity for youth, agriculture, business and the environment.

Our West Sacramento store has been offering seasonal produce from the West Sacramento Urban Farms since 2017. This program is part of CLBL’s California Farm Academy Business Incubator Program, which provides opportunities to beginning farmers in the form of land, tools, infrastructure and mentorship. It also allows our guests to enjoy hyperlocal produce while supporting up-and-coming farmers.

Throughout the spring, summer and fall, our West Sacramento store receives weekly deliveries fresh from farmers like Ben Herston of California Stars Farm and Glen Baldwin of Six O’Clock Farm. Some of the produce we source from the farms includes heirloom and slicer tomatoes, butternut and spaghetti squash, watermelons, sweet potatoes and more. Look for butternut squash fresh from California Stars Farm in our kitchen while it’s in season!

Our partnership with CLBL is the latest in a long line of joint efforts to support local agriculture in a relationship more than a decade strong. At Nugget Markets, we’re dedicated to supporting new and local farmers, agricultural preservation and youth and education, so teaming up with CLBL is a natural fit.
