Did you know our Fresh to Market Honey is made in partnership with Henry’s Bullfrog Bees? This local, family-owned-and-operated company is in Winters, California, and all the beekeeping, honey production, bottling and distribution is run by Henry, Robin and Doneice. Buying local, family-owned products like our Fresh to Market Honey is one way to shop sustainably, as your money goes directly back into your community and you’re supporting farmers striving to support their communities and ecosystems.
Sustainably speaking, it’s especially important to support healthy production of honey and pollination right now. It is estimated that nearly one third of the food we eat is driven by pollinators, including the bees who make our honey! Did you also know that honey is the ONLY food that never spoils? Honey crystallization is a natural process and can be reversed by soaking the jar of honey in warm water (<115°F). Raw, local wildflower honey also contains pollens that may help alleviate seasonal allergies.
In short, honey is an amazing product that can be used many different ways. Along with adding it to your tea, give these sweet ideas a try…
- Add honey to your oatmeal, coffee or a recipe that calls for sugar to provide nutrient-dense calories.
- Pair specific honeys with artisan cheeses, like orange blossom honey with blue cheese or lavender honey with goat cheese.
- Honey is naturally thick and can even be used as a face mask to cleanse the skin.
