Community Giving Programs

Nugget Markets has been a part of the Northern California community since 1926. We want to be good neighbors, so we try to give back when we can through our community giving programs.

The Best of the Barrel

You know that good feeling you get when you give to a good cause? We love that feeling. We also love good food and good wine. So it makes sense that we would combine the two into one fun-filled event: The Best of the Barrel. We hold these food and wine celebrations four times a year at our various store locations, and each event benefits a different community organization.

Would you like us to consider your organization as a possible beneficiary for an upcoming Best of the Barrel event? Here’s what you should do:

  • Download our application form. You can submit electronically by attaching this form in an e-mail to community.giving@nuggetmarket.com. You can also return it to our corporate office at Community Giving, Nugget Market, Inc. 168 Court St., Woodland, CA 95695.
  • Our beneficiary organizations are expected to help with promotion and ticket sales for the event. Include with your application your organization’s promotion plan.
  • Pay attention to the deadlines: We hold Best of the Barrel events four times a year; twice in the fall, and twice in spring. Applications are due July 25 for fall events; March 1 for spring events. This year, our Davis, Covell Blvd., store will host the Best of Barrel on October 3rd, and Roseville will host the Best of Barrel on Oct. 10. We are no longer accepting applications for Davis. We will be accepting applications for Roseville until August 15. The beneficiary for both events will be announced by August 22.
  • If you miss the application deadline for our next available event, or are not chosen as the beneficiary, we will keep your application on file for one year.

Scrip Program

Nugget’s Scrip program allows you to donate 3 percent of your grocery purchases to local non-profit organizations. Cards are available at all of our store locations, and you can load your card with up to four beneficiaries. You should also check with your desired beneficiary organization – they might already have a scrip program in place with Nugget and can provide you with a card. Contact your local store director for more details.

Friendship Club

In addition to our Scrip Program, you can also become a member of Nugget’s Friendship Club to have 1 percent of your receipt totals donated to your favorite non-profit organization. Contact your local store director to learn more.

Donations & Sponsorships

If your organization would like to request a donation from Nugget Market, we are happy to consider your request. Please plan ahead: all small donation requests must be submitted at least two weeks in advance, and larger donation and sponsorship requests must be submitted at least four weeks ahead of time.

How do I make a donation request?

To request a donation, you must:

  1. Download and complete the donation request form.
  2. Deliver the donation request form, along with a letter describing your organization, to the store director at your local Nugget Market location.

How do I request a sponsorship?

There are two ways to request a sponsorship. You can either:

  1. Download the application.
  2. Submit the application via email to community.giving@
