Whether you’re getting ready for a Christmas party, Hanukkah gathering or winter solstice shindig, ‘tis the season to raise a glass and celebrate! Get in the spirit with a few wonderful wine picks from our pros.
Marqués de Cáceres Rioja Crianza: This Tempranillo-based red is a great example of the terrific wine values coming out of Spain. This powerful Rioja wine is made by one of the legendary producers from this classic region and boasts plum, currant and licorice flavors backed by firm tannins. Enjoy a bottle or give one as a gift this holiday season!
SparrowHawk Napa Cabernet Sauvignon: Good Napa Valley cabernet sauvignon doesn’t have to cost a fortune, and this cab is a prime example. The cabernet grapes for this wine come from several Napa Valley floor regions, as well as Howell Mountain, resulting in a big, full-bodied structure, plush velvety texture, and the classic cassis and blackberry flavors of Napa Valley.
Chateau Buena Vista Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon: Although this long-established producer is located in Sonoma, their 2013 Napa Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the best our wine stewards have had the pleasure of tasting this year. One sip and there’s no mistake you’re drinking a model Napa Valley cab. Grab yourself a bottle (or two) and see if you agree!
Domaine Carneros Brut Cuvée Sparkling Wine: There’s no better way to celebrate the holidays or ring in the New Year than with some tiny bubbles in your glass. The Domaine Carneros Brut Cuvée has a minimum of three years of bottle sur lie aging before being released, resulting in a complex, toasty wine with fine, pinpoint bubbles and an elegant structure.
